Sivunivut was successful in obtaining funding to complete an Economic Leakage Study. The goal is to complete an economic leakage study that will help reverse the current trend of outflow of spending from North West River into the neighbouring central Labrador community of Happy Valley – Goose Bay. This study will identify specific business opportunities for North West River that would bring new businesses, jobs and wealth back into the community.

Notice is hereby given by the Inuit Community Corporation of North West River that nominations will be accepted for the position of Chairperson for the upcoming election to be held on the 14th day of September 2010.

Nominations will be accepted beginning on the 17th day of August 2010, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, and will close on the 23rd day of August 2010, during the aforesaid dates with the exception of the days of Saturday and Sunday. For Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries interested in being nominated, the office of the Returning Officer is at 26 Sunday Hill Road.
